about me

hi hello welcome.
lovely to meet you! my name is sam and i teach yoga. i also make (perform, write, teach) theatre. movement is a lot of things to me. it is my home, my medicine, and my favourite thing to share.
my original draw to yoga was a desire to counteract activities that were hard on my body. in 2010, i was in theatre school, running (literally) my butt off, and regularly waitressing until 4am. i was stressed and sore all the time, and truthfully, i did not feel well. i discovered a nearby yoga studio (shout out yoga happy tree) and thought “hey that might help with my sore knee”.
what i found in that studio was stillness. but it was stillness through movement. i found the ability to connect all of the different parts of myself through my breath. i found rest and healing, and ultimately, i fell in love with this practice.
now, my yoga practice is about celebration. it’s about giving my body what it wants. my teaching is about sharing that celebration, and hopefully, guiding you towards your own discoveries.
